Does the LED investment pay off?
Looking to make some electrical upgrades in your house? If you are battling the cost difference to switch from incandescent to LED bulbs / fixtures we will try to help you see the light (pun intended). Now, more than ever, since the prices of LED bulbs have gone from “that’s expensive” to “that’s not so bad”, there are even more reasons to switch.
Your average LED bulb costs approximately 2.5-3 times the price of a standard incandescent bulb. But what do you get for that cost difference? Let’s dig a little deeper, your average used incandescent bulb generates 60 watts, while your average LED equivalent produces 6-9 watts. Also your average incandescent bulb produces an average of 1.2k hours of light source, while your average LED lasts 20 times longer at 25k hours. If you look at it over a 10 year span, that one incandescent bulb would end up costing you about $90, while an LED would only cost $18. Now times that savings by every light you use in your house.
Lastly as we touched on, environmentally it is better. Better on energy usage, energy cost, as well as GHG emissions. So let’s start by talking about how by spending a little now, you will save a lot later on.
