How to know if you need a new Hot Water Heater

Is it about time for a new hot water heater?  Do you know how to check?  Most hot water heaters have a lifespan of approximately 9 to 11 years. If you are reaching that time period try this.  First turn off the breaker to your hot water heater.  Then turn off the water supply going into it.  After that attach a hose to the bottom of your hot water heater.  There’s typically a spout on the bottom of all hot water heater’s in which you can attach the hose to.  After doing so, put it in a bucket or run that hose right outside. When you turn the water on if what comes out looks brown / muddy / rusty that’s a good sign that your hot water heater needs to be replaced.  If you see sediment / debris that’s another indicator.  For all your Plumbing needs visit www.kmbplumbing.com or call us at (570)460-0111
